Black powder muskets arent very accurate and you miss. The sound of their charge is deafening! You can feel the ground is shaking also. In few seconds they will hit your ranks. You know that every hussar can kill 6 man in few seconds and you are just 1 kill for them. Here is what you do: RUN!!!

I should lol you. The statement about inf - cav ratio as being 45-55 % is simply ridiculous. When Arvid Wittenberg first marched into western Poland the polish army that faced him consisted of some 13.000 men if I recall it correctly, only 1.500 of these were infantry, this reflected the whole commonwealth, the polish noble never wanted, never would and never liked the idea of arming the populace, cause that if anything could be turned against their seamless total dominance in PL

@k1lkenny lol 7 meter pikes, were did you get that from? your comments show you know little about polish tactics of that era and winged hussar tactics as well. For starters PLC did not lack modern infantry (45%: 55% inf cav ratio). The wieght was moved more twoards cavalry and a braking cavalry charge was considerd the deciding factor. WH were the main shock element ment to brake formations and gunpowder fire wasn't a threat "with little as usual by Gods will loss to our men - WH J.Ch.Pasek".

@bohun28 Actualy the death of Winged Hussars at the beginning of XVIII cent came more from economical and sociological reasons then from advances in weponry. War devestation of the XVII second half and the reversal of trade balance at around 1700 cut into the economics of middleclass nobility wich was the recruitment basis(they could no longer afford it). Dropping of the training level, hussar comreades (the backbone members paying for it all) not present in the units only thier levies and so on

u notice that the winged hussars are standing still and after doing reasearch the mod hes using he used the best swed cav he had and used a 2v1 battle (look at # of troops

@joonte1010 The problem with Husaria tactics, especially into the 18th Century, is that they became outmoded. As artillery and musket technology improved, as these weapons began being used more efficiently, and had better accuracy and range, so an army based almost exclusively on heavy cavalry became more obsolete.

Such tactics were great in 16th and 17th Century, but as technology and tactics developed, Husaria became less useful.
