Japan was not a colonialist.
Japan only fought the defense war against the colonialists.

That argument is as ludicrous as it is offensive. So a country that seizes and occupies a foreign country is only doing so as guardians and protectors of the native people? This dubious defense has been used by every imperialist government in history, and it's nothing but colonialist chauvinism. And what do you mean Japan didn't try to invade China? What about when Japan invaded and seized Manchuria in 1931? Or the full scale invasion that began in 1937? or The Rape of Nanking?

There is no fact that Japan tried to invade China. The reason to which Japan participated in Manchuria was for coping with the threat of the Soviet Union and communism. Because Japan eliminated cruel military cliques or bandits and maintained the peace and order, the population of Manchuria increased and prospered very much.
-
Manchuria's location and abundant natural resources made it the perfect base to invade china. The native population was virtually enslaved and "Manchukuo" became one of the world's most brutally run regions. Through terror, violence and intimidation the native population was cowed into submission: privately owned farms and businesses were seized and became state run. Due process was nonexistent. When the League of Nations condemned Japan's actions in Manchuria, Japan resigned it's membership.

You think newsreels and documentaries don't promote ideologies? "A barren and desolate land has been transformed into a great commercial center." There you go. That's the ideology that's being promoted: That Japan's involvement in Manchuria is not only beneficial, but designed to benefit the native population. In fact, the Japanese invaded Manchuria, seized by military force and used it primarily to stage their war machine for Japan's forthcoming invasion of china.
How is this propaganda? The film does not promote any ideology. It is basically a newsreel or documentary about Manchuria's economy.

@supplysargent Thanks for your reply, but Japanese justification is not what I got from this film at all. I have viewed it and listened to the narration more than once and stand by my earlier comment.
