  • It's too bad Tom Kennedy couldn't return for this version. The reason he couldn't return was because he was hosting Name That Tune at the time, which was also syndicated.

  • @meyerj75 There's a recording of that block that's been on the trading circuit for a while- I was surprised that it aired in prime time, I thought WPIX always showed movies then?

  • @whats a yak Actually the Joe Garagiola To Tell The Truth episodes aired in the original first run on WCBS Chanel 2 in New York.

  • @meyerj75 - It was actually TTD at 8, YDS at 8:30, LMaD reruns at 9, and Garagiola's TTTT (not Liar's Club) at 9:30...the Garagiola eps had gone unseen in the NY market until that point.

  • Love this show! Please upload more! Peck was good, but Kennedy was better.

  • FYI, The 1978 version of "You Don't Say" was part of a 2 hour block of game shows between 8-10 PM on WPIX TV 11Alive in New York starting in 1978 along with Liar's Club, (The New) Tic Tac Dough, and Let's Make A Deal '71-'77. It didn't last that long considering that WPIX competed against the network's prime time schedule while another station WOR-TV 9 competed between 6-8 PM with "The Joker's Wild", "The Dating and Newlywed Game", and the completely forgotten "Bowling for Dollars".

  • The syndicated You Don't Say! was not widely seen, especially in Minneapolis and that's why it didn't last very long. I thought the original version with Tom Kennedy was the best incarnation and it's a show that should be revived someday.

  • What a Blast From the Past! It seems people like Nipsey Russell and Mitzi McCall/Charlie Brill (a real life couple) were all over the place when it came to 1970's game shows. I had NO idea that there ever was a nightime version "You Don't Say" until I saw this clip. I only recall the 60's daytime version with Tom Kennedy. THANKS for sharing this gem with us!

  • Where was this shown in Chicago?

  • With that dress, probably.
