  • The PBS special was how I was introduced to Roy when I was 12 years old. I was hooked ever since and was fortunate to have seen him twice.

  • i saw him at barney googles in richfield, ohio in the late 80's...he autographed a ticket from the agora in cleveland from 1975 for me that nite...

  • I have 2 copies of this 1 is a board mix, the other is audience. The board mix only has parts of this concert. JUST curious, who posted this? Did you play music with Roy?

  • @jojobayliss I got this from Roy's Son 4 or 5 years ago...

  • Saw Roy MANY times in DC. GOD he was wonderful. The town cried buckets when he passed. His tone was simply beautiful.

  • I worked in a big club in the sticks in Maryland way back in the early 70s, and Pete van Allen worked there from time to time - he played Bass with Roy on a great Snake Stretchers album. We were all just trying to make a buck and play music...nobody was talking like Roy B was a legend, yet, but his name was around. There were some real good players all over the place - I often wonder about some of them all these years later.

Reese Wynans (SRV's keyboardist ) was a regular on that circuit).

  • i just talked about this on another version! i liked down by the river too! i stll have the burlap cover!

  • This features legendary Joe Bayliss on keys/ vocals. Roy continued to play this song for many more years. This is where this particular version began; It was actually a song Bayliss had been doing and the group needed a song to feature Bayliss, thus...

"Hey Joe..." he was singing in 3rd person

  • A+ Thanks for Posting! Audio Gems!
