The PBS special was how I was introduced to Roy when I was 12 years old. I was hooked ever since and was fortunate to have seen him twice.

i saw him at barney googles in richfield, ohio in the late 80's...he autographed a ticket from the agora in cleveland from 1975 for me that nite...

Saw Roy MANY times in DC. GOD he was wonderful. The town cried buckets when he passed. His tone was simply beautiful.

I worked in a big club in the sticks in Maryland way back in the early 70s, and Pete van Allen worked there from time to time - he played Bass with Roy on a great Snake Stretchers album. We were all just trying to make a buck and play music...nobody was talking like Roy B was a legend, yet, but his name was around. There were some real good players all over the place - I often wonder about some of them all these years later.

This features legendary Joe Bayliss on keys/ vocals. Roy continued to play this song for many more years. This is where this particular version began; It was actually a song Bayliss had been doing and the group needed a song to feature Bayliss, thus...

"Hey Joe..." he was singing in 3rd person
