you'd create a god that's more like you; exactly. we are all different, so just because god isn't like you, doesn't mean he isn't like someone else.

besides that, i personally would not want to worship a god who had a laid back attitude toward sinners. my humanness demands justice, and if i were to create a god, he would indeed exact judgment upon us all, but he would also take some responsibility for the terrible path he allowed us to embark upon.

i think your argument fails terribly.

yes, men made gods in their image, after their appearancel, no doubt about that... its only a matter of time before all the world equates the jew/christian/muslim god with thor or zeus... a total myth... a total shame. ..you can kill god by simply burning the book... but it would be better to kill the in vain inventors/plagerizers of the so called "gods word", but their all fucking bones now.. fuck you all

The Old Testament Yahweh is just what the people wanted: a God who cares mainly about our nation, who justifies our borders and a lot of killing in the name of religious purity (as well as forced labor in Deuteronomy 20), and reflects the harsh culture and environment of that time and place.

My sentence was a complete thought - "People keep trying to humanize God & bring Him to our level, that is a fools game." My point was, go to God's level & strive towards being Holy as is the constant theme throughout the Bible.

Oversimplifying is exactly what I am doing & believe that is scriptural as well because the Bible was written to be understood by the lay person AND, independently, is eternally layered.

Like this video, people over intellectualize Him & that creates confusion.

'bring Him to our level' - This is the only way that we can know Him, which is what He wants. He is a person, not a force. The Bible itself is God bringing Himself to our level, using language etc. through which we can understand. Otherwise we could never know anything about Him (see Isaiah 55:8-9).

You are oversimplifying things. God wants us to know Him as best as creatures can, but it will take us all eternity to do so. See John 17:3. So there is nothing wrong with people thinking like Greg.

@Hoba- Actually lead has been turned into gold. Unfortunately the process costs more than the worth of the gold produced.
