@wolfbushcraft Yes, its from the same type of birch tree, but i decided to discard that golden colored sap , But i must say that what sap i did boil down was very tasty! I use it on ice cream,cooking,etc...also it tastes great as a substitute for sugar in my tea, Cant wait for the next tapping season here in Newfoundland,Canada.... cheers!

Alright mate, Just wondering about the Birch tree in the video. I thought Birch had a pale coloured bark and can be identified with the bark peeling quite often but on the video the bark looks totally different to what i would associate with Birch, can you help please, thanks.

@fleckyRFC its an older tree,thats grows in a very dark beech/pine woods..it is a birch tree.not all our birch trees in the uk have the perfect bark that can be peeled off to use for boxes etc,this tree is very aged..

what is birch sap useful for?

@MrGoldenV you can drink it for an energy and spring tonic as it is,or boil it down for a syrup.
