DKC3 (GBA) How to Kill Koin #3 - Using Off-Screen Technique

In episode three of How to Kill Koin, I want to show you how to kill Koin by using what I like to call the "SNES Off-screen" trick.

Let me explain what it means. In the SNES version of the game, people figured out how to kill Koin using a 'sometimes faster' way by rolling the barrel towards him while he was off the screen. What happens when he is off the screen is that the barrel will roll through him. So one of two things could happen. 1.) You enter the screen right as it enters Koin, effectively killing him. 2.) You enter the screen right as it passes through Koin, the barrel bounces off of the wall and hits him from behind.

I performed this trick using the T.N.T. barrel (knocka) and the steel barrel provided in this level. I show you how to do it using the steel barrel in episode four of this series. In this episode, I use the T.N.T. barrel because it rolls and you can use the sound as proof to the glitch. Usually when you throw the T.N.T. at Koin, it will cause a loud racket and cause the game to lag. As I enter the screen, you hear the T.N.T. explode, but you don't hear the rattling of Koin's armor and shield. It takes timing, but it works the same way as it does in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

well my idea of how this works, is if the barrel goes over to where koin is and koin hasn't appeared yet so when you get there koin appears and the barrel is in the middle of him so he dies =P

but how the barrel keep intact off screen we probably will never know...

I swear this off-screen trick works in every single game that Koin appears in. It even works in Donkey Kong Land 3 as well. But in DKL3, Koin has to be kinda far off the screen...
