In 2011, around 50 people attended a public meeting hosted by Liverpool Solidarity Federation to mark the centenary of the Liverpool general transport strike. The first speaker was local historian Frank Carlyle who talked about Liverpool's growth as a port city, the conditions of the working-class and the influence of immigration.
