Watch Alice Sara Ott play the Adagio from Beethoven's Pianos Sonata op. 2 no. 3 in C major from her Beethoven album at Deutsche Grammophon.

Both C major sonatas on this album have been in Alice Sara Ott's repertoire since her early teens and she feels that recording them now is testimony to her regard for Beethoven and of her ability to present a personal and artistic statement of these works.

Sonata op. 2 no. 3, written when Beethoven was in his mid-twenties, is full of youthful spirit, wit, and force. The "Waldstein" op. 53 was composed in his thirties when Beethoven was struggling with impending deafness.

Additionally, Alice Sara Ott selected the fierce Rondo "Rage over a Lost Penny," dating from Sonata op. 2's time, and the beautiful Andante favori, originally written as the "Waldstein"'s slow movement.
