ForgeFX developed this interactive 3D wean-to-finish barn for Pfizer Animal Health. Pfizer Incorporated is the world's largest pharmaceutical company, developing medications for human and veterinary needs. ForgeFX worked with Carthage Veterinary Services to create a simulation that would teach farmers how to identify and treat indiviual sick pigs. This virtual pork production simulation subjects the farmer to pigs of different ages and illnesses. The illnesses are simulated at different stages of the sickness.
Treating pigs at the first sign of disease is the key to successful pork production. Farmers are able to experiment with different barn management techniques to find the approach that works best, something that is easy to do in a simulation, but not possible or practical in the real-world. Risks to livestock, personnel, and material consumption are removed in the simulation, making it a valuable tool for teaching and training. The farmers are given the tools needed to identify the sick pigs, to treat the pigs, to control the feed and water systems in the barn, temperature and air flow controls, and to get feedback from a virtual vet that will give suggestions to the farmer on how to treat vairus illnesses.
All of these actions are taken into account and projected into a full wean-to-finish cycle. A report is then generated showing the farmer what their profit would be. This information is also sent to a database simular to a high score board that shows how well the farmer did in comparison to other farmers, students, and veterinarians.
