Babylon, from Jer 50 was conquered by Cyrus(2 Chr 36:22-23, Isa 44 & 45, Dan 1-6) Babylon was conquered from the north...they came into Babylon after diverting the Euphrates River. This harlot in Rev has the same idolatry, sorcery, & evil from Babylon...but now, there are martyrs' blood & saint's blood. God also called Israel a harlot (Isa 1, Jer 2) for the same reason.
