  • Under the old system, he would've won in both 2004 and 2007. I know he wasn't the champion because of the stupid points system, but don't act like he's not good anymore, because he is.

  • Is that Alan Bestwick on the call? Holy shit, I feel bad for the guy, 6 years later and he's in the studio with loudmouth Wallace and some idiot that owns a car and has nothing to add.

  • I hope Jeff Gordon wins his 5th championship in 2012

  • That was when Bristol was good.

Today it's one of the most boring races.

Everyone should go to BMS website and mail them to finally reconfigure the track to what it was

  • @TheHighRoad7 If you've watched this season, Jeff Gordon's still got the champion driver skills. He's just had a series of bad luck days, mistakes, etc. How he won at Pheonix though should be proof enough that the #24's still in the game. Plus, the new points system could play in his favor for once: if Jeff stays in the top-20 in points, and nobody else between 11-20 gets more wins than him, Jeff can get into the chase. Then he's just gotta out-perform 2-time real, 3-time fluke.

  • @3richardwilliams thats brad daughtry he used to play in the nba for the cavaliers now he owns a nascar team lol

  • @Gforcebond This is true. Hopefully the new system will shake things up a bit.

  • i will never fotget that

  • Yeah I liked the old points system how the overall performance of the entire season was important. Nascar is a business though they do things to get as much ratings as possible. The whole reason why we went to the new system is b/c some guy named Matt Kenseth had a 400 + points lead half way into the season in 2003 and the ratings really sucked as a result of it. That's the problem when you don't have a 10 race run off at the end somebody can take a big points lead and it's borring.

  • @Gforcebond His 5 straight was a fluke. Under the true point system that true fans follow, he'd be a 2 time champion.

  • @Gforcebond Yeah he is the only reason why johnson has 4 championships is the chase system. If it was the old system which is the better one he would only have 1 champuonship. Like ive always said the championship should not be determined by the final 10 races it should be how your team pefroms throughout the season.

  • @TheHighRoad7

not as good as Jimmie fucking Johnson

  • @gracethedog48 so true

  • @RyDogRidesTheBus

LOL! not trying to win anything, just showin' the #'s. And, after looking at all of them, taking into acct top 5's & 10's, and not just wins, Jr has held his own with those other guys at the short tracks. Now if he could just get it together on the other tracks again.

  • @gracethedog48 Well, at least you're checking the stats. You win this round.

  • @RyDogRidesTheBus

In Jr's career, here are his #'s at short tracks. 4 wins, 23 top 5's and 33 top 10's in 67 starts. This does take into acct. yesterday's race.

  • @gracethedog48 as much as I agree with your statistics, I don't call Jr good at short tracks just because of his name. He has, with the exception of the 2009 season, been more consistent at short tracks than most of the drivers you mentioned (with Johnson, Kurt, and Denny the exceptions) , finished top 10, top 5 in almost all races at short tracks.

  • @RyDogRidesTheBus

Are you high? Jr, the 3rd best short track racer of the last decade? Jr only has 4 short track wins! Kurt and Kyle both would be ahead of him, heck Tony Stewart is even ahead of him, Denny Hamlin even has more wins. I think you're giving him a bit more credit than he deserves, chances are, based on his name. And you're forgetting about JJ who has 10 short track wins in 53 tries! compared to Gordon's 15 wins in 115 tries. 1. JJ 2. JG 3. Kurt Busch. Jr is top 10, but no better

  • @JoeCamel23RedDog8 The Sprint Cup Championship will never be as prestigous as The Winston Cup. The Titles looked so much better back then, not this stupid trophy with two metal Checkered flags on it.

  • @TheHighRoad7 and maybe 2010...

  • @TheHighRoad7 amen! hes second in the points this year :)

  • @vicp1990 yeah, Busch was pretty damn good too.

  • @RyDogRidesTheBus i think kurt busch and jr. should b tied for that spot

  • Three of the best short track racers of the last decade finish 1-2-3

    1. Jeff Gordon

    2. Rusty Wallace

    3. Dale Earnhardt Jr.

  • @TheHighRoad7

Totally agree man. He's been SO SO SO close to winning so many times last season and this year. EVENTUALLY, he's gonna break through.

  • @MenaceFan

You know, as much as I love watching cars go 3 wide at bristol and be able pass on the high side. I do miss watching guys get left up high to dry and the finishes where so much more fun before.

  • Could somebody upload the full race?
