MAHLER Symphony No. 8 "Symphony of a Thousand"
Mahler himself conducted the debut of his bigger-than-life symphony, featuring more than 1,000 performers and justifying its nickname. Yannick Nézet-Séguin will marshal the enormous forces two full orchestras, a chorus of 240, eight soloists in the NAC Orchestras first-ever performance of this masterpiece. Mahler described it perfectly: "Try to imagine the whole universe beginning to ring and resound. These are no longer human voices, but planets and suns revolving in their orbits."
