The Iron Kettle - Benji Flaming - solo banjo (solobanjo.com)

The "woody" tone of the banjo on this tune is created by attaching a pair of clothespins to the instrument's bridge. The additional mass absorbs many of the higher-frequency vibrations, which would otherwise be transmitted to (and effectively amplified by) the head.
