this solo was in the movie Almost Famous the movie about the great group Stillwater..does any one know if John made this solo?? or if it was recorded by another artist
-
is it the ds-2, the big muff or some other pedal that hes using here?

@jakeblandjk47 i like your opinion!

@jakeblandjk47 sorry, I was thrown off when you brought it up, and now I see what you meant, you meant that the class in experimental music was boring. I thought you meant the music of satch/vai. my bad, I totally misunderstood you. I agree with what you say about John too. He's so emotive and powerful, and that's why he's one of my main influences too.
you're a great guitarist by the way

@PrestonDowMusic you kinda missed my point. i never once said that makes my opinion mean more. i was just saying that creative and outside the box doesn't necessarily mean good. i despise most of the music created on my course. and no, we dont 'learn' things on my course we're just encouraged to make music in completely different ways to anyone. my point was that i find it boring.
the fact that John is Raw and Captivating and Exciting is the reason why he is my main musical influence.

wait, so your studying music in college gives you the right to say what's boring and what's not? although I agree, it's boring, it's simply a matter of taste.
plus, creative music doesn't come from classrooms. I'm sure whatever you're learning in your experimental music courses is extremely useful, but if you think it puts your opinions or ideas above anyone else's (although I'm sure you don't) you're wrong. you have *it* or you don't. John does. he's raw and captivating.

@PrestonDowMusic creative maybe, outside the box maybe.
im studying at UCLAN doing a Music Degree in experimental music - its boring.
frusciante has RAW feel which is what makes the difference for me. yeah, maybe i was wrong to say they got no feel and are guitar robots but i do however find them boring.
-
@jakeblandjk47 funny, both those guitarist frequently go out of the box and are very creative. john sites at least vai as an influence. people write them off as soulless robots because they like to play fast sometimes.
telling someone they're emotionless because they play lots of notes is just as bad as telling someone they're bad for playing slow. I personally don't listen to them b/c I don't like their style, but that doesn't make it bad. they love music just as much as everyone else does

John Frusciante Experience
vai and satriani are guitar robots thats why. they got no feel. cant go outside of the box. thats my opinion anyway. Frusciante and Hendrix are innovators
