Ya'll must not have met no Apostolics then ;] lol... I agree that most of the trinitarian "old time 'holiness'" people are very mean and judgmental... I can tell you it is not like that with the UPCI, COOLJC, or other Apostolic organizations. We do have outward standards however my church does not focus on them-we work on the inner man. Once you have truly crucified the flesh, the rest will come.... And if it don't come right away, we don't kick you out :] lol

I do agree that most people who come out of the man made holiness doctrine, go to far, but that just shows what is in their heart. THEIR HEART IS NOT RIGHT, wearing makeup or jewelry has NOTHING to do with it. They need to be born again, when they are born again, they will be MODEST in EVERYTHING they do, from eating all the way to how they dress. The scripture is CLEAR on sin. Read Eph. 5:3-5 and Gal 5:19-21 to get a good idea of what sin is, then Gal. 5:22-23 will describe a true Christian

This may be true of your former pastor, but if I judged all 'holiness' pastors based on the ones I have known personally (and it is more than just a few) it would be unjust. I know of preachers whose wives wear no jewelry, makeup or pants, and who wouldn't THINK of cutting there hair, and they are some of the MEANEST people I know of. I am so glad that the Lord was patient enough with me to bring me out of false doctrine before I indoctrinated my children.

I was raised just like you believe now! I didn't know what true holiness was until I was sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost and studied the Bible for MYSELF! My pastor thought I was crazy for coming to the conclusions that I came to ON MY OWN thru the scriptures and thru prayer! My COG pastor wore shorts and his wife wore pants, make up, shorts, cut her glory off, ect...! Thank God I'm FREE!

Many of them know Joseph Chambers and what he preaches. I was raised in his church but did not learn true holiness till I began to study the Bible for myself. People like to use the word holiness without a real understanding of the word. If the old time way that you are talking about concerns a woman not wearing makeup and jewelry, then how come anybody can do this, and not even be born again. The Lord has shown me so much by His Spirit and by the Word of God. Holiness is the character of Christ
