1. This week in worship: Being Rich Toward God
Being Rich toward God begins with giving God that which matters most to God. This could be summed up in the Jesus Creed which we say most Sundays during worship.
'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'[a]; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
2. Celebration/Commitment Sunday
Last week you should have received a letter, a Guide to Giving and an Estimate of Giving Card in the mail. We will present our 2009 Estimates of Giving Cards this Sunday November 23rd as an act of worship and celebration of faith and trust in God.
As you prepare your Estimate of Giving Card, prayerfully ask God to guide your decision.
It is important that every member of the St. Matthew's family return an Estimate of Giving Card for two reasons. First, it is a personal act of worship and gratitude. Secondly, on a more practical note, your commitment allows our church to budget and plan for our ministries, key objectives, and mission outreach programs in the coming year.
If you are financially struggling this year, it would be helpful for us if you would return your card and simply indicate that you are unable to make a commitment at this time.
If you have any questions about this feel free to give me a call or email. 804-784-3176
3. Special Wednesday Night Dinner, Thanksgiving Edition
Join us on Thanksgiving Eve as we serve a thanksgiving meal, 5-6:30. We will be inviting all the the Neighbor Food Pantry participants and their families. Please join us for this great time of fellowship and food.
4. Community Thanksgiving service
On Wednesday Nov. 26 at 7:30 we will have a community Thanksgiving service with other churches from Goochland. This year the service will be at St. Mark's Baptist Church located on 4596 Factory Mill Road, Maidens. Call St. Mark's for more information, 556-4671
