11 students from the Madrid School of Architecture build the domino 21-system prototype at CONSTRUTEC '04 held at the IFEMA trade fair centre. reyesJM is in charge of the project, which is part of the specialist course given at the Polytechnic University of Madrid "design and technology in standard housing" under Professor JM de Prada Poole. 33 European companies sponsored the project providing materials and resources.
The highlights of the project are:
- buildings constructed entirely with standard compatible components (S.3c)
- buildings that are easily rearranged (spatial flexibility)
- buildings that are assembled quickly (15 days for a building with 5 different apartment designs)
The building is now totally dismantled and recycled. All the parts have been put to a different use or used in other buildings.
JM de Prada Poole, Emeritus Professor at the Madrid School of Architecture, was a Professor in the Project Design Department until his recent retirement (during his teaching career he was a lecturer at the MIT and other major universities in America).
reyesJM lectures on project design at the Alfonso X el Sabio University. For 3 years he worked on post-graduate research in the Department of Project Design at the Madrid School of Architecture, and now collaborates in the department of Technology on several research projects, as well as different post graduate courses: the "Master's degree in Collective Housing", "Design and technology in standard housing", "Ephimeral Architecture".
