  • This is an ominous depiction of Japan in the 1990's - their lost decade; economic collapse, failed stimulus, etc. Marriage was also in decline. But, if Japan can't recover, no one can. Hopefully, America will learn from the Japanese, with regard to social issues and movie making. Great Film.

  • By far one of the most engaging, brutally honest and insightful movies I have ever seen about a normal family in crisis...the film overcomes the cultural barrier to show family members dealing with their own problems and the impact this has on the family

  • @TheCriton normally no but in this movie the US had allowed foreign help, coalition of sorts. technically he never was joining the US army but the Japanese coalition forces.

  • Im not trying to be a troll or anything but are japanese people allowed to join the us military?

  • people should really use the word spoiler.

  • I liked this movie, but I don't see how the mother getting off with some guy in a shack was relevent to anything. It's a great look into how vunerable the Japanese are like everyone else behind that tough cultural barrier they have.

  • i like how at the end the son that went to war realised the americans were wrong, and decided to fight for the freedom fighters, in the letter he wrote to his mom :)

fuck american aggression and imperialism, oil greedy, baby killing cunts

  • Just saw the movie yesterday. It was very brillant and a little sad but I loved it nonetheless.

  • @CecilyHeron I'd say Sakebi is...interesting :).

  • @WhyDoYouAskWhoIam Great stuff, I'll be sure to check those out. So Sakebi wouldn't be top of your list in films of his you've gotta see?
