All I know about this record is that the label was based in Nashville, Tennessee. Presumably The Esquires have no connection with any of the other groups sharing their name.

  • I only met Ronnie once back in the eighties. Really nice guy with an amazing shop (in Clifton, New Jersey) and I was sorry to hear he'd passed on. I never saw his list of favorites but I guess great minds think alike!! I've heard of UGHA but have no connection with them, though I wish them well and I admire what they are doing. I have records by all the groups you mention and will try to get round to posting them, other commitments permitting. Too many records, too little time.

  • I should add that I could see that Ronnie knew infinitely more than I did. I guess I must have got a lot from him indirectly, reading Yesterday's Memories, etc, years ago. The writers in those magazines (people like Marv Goldberg, Phil Groia) were, I guess, his friends, and they collectively helped shape our appreciation of this music. II haven't followed what those guys are writing since then, and my record descriptions are from memory or my own personal observations, so forgive any errors.

  • Smooth as silk.

  • HI BRENT, SIMPLY F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!! THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES AND THE FUN,TOM D.

  • I heard this on many oldies shows for years, beginning with the Time Capsule Show in the 1960s, but just curious--did "Only the Angels Know" have any exposure at all when it was originally released?

  • Had the 5 Tinos on Sun. This one was at the top of my Want List before deciding to sell collection.

  • what a song simply perfect

  • Great record ... this group also recorded as the 5 Tinos on Sun and as the Teenos on Dub.

  • thank you ...I'm thinking you had to know Ronnie I and UGHA...you have several of his favorites on your playlist...so I can still hope to hear the Aladdins, the Marylanders and Tiny Tip and the Tip Tops and if not maybe something I never heard before...please play on.
