It really does sound like a lovely flame war you have planned here, but I'm afraid I can't participate. I'm already involved in several good ones already. But thanks for asking.
I feel sorry for you guys. This is supposed to be hilarious. Why are you all so serious? Even if you guys haven't finished arguing, please stop. Laugh, for God's sake! hahaha :)
"More than 1 million Iraqies (sic) dead in the last 5 years, mostly children."
Your idiocy, continued. Prove we've killed mostly children, you moron. That's a flat out lie.
Here's some advice: don't look to the United States if you want to be safe from militant Islamic terrorists. You sit and bitch at us, but when the rain comes down, you'll do ANYTHING for our help. Go try to make peace with the terrorists...see how far you get. Because they don't hate JUST the U.S.
"Without any military reason"? You are a COMPLETE idiot. Casualty estimates for an invasion of the Japanese home islands were for 1 million American servicemen, and 15 million Japanese. Those two bombs, and their 120,000 casualties, saved about 16 million...on both sides.
We would not have been in that war had not Germany -- and Japan -- struck first. Plenty of military reason in Pearl Harbor - 1500 US dead from an unprovoked attack, and 100,000 dead in four years of worldwide conflict.
No I haven't read those - who is being sanctimonious now? I was referring to the way you used those events as if you personally experienced how "insufferable" Brits were. Simply put, you're using an example that is completely irrelevant as no-one alive now experienced it. You think a Brit is going to say, oh right yes of course - we were quite irritating weren't we? Oh ho ho!
Seems to me like an excuse to be patronisingly superior in an argument about a comedy sketch. Get some perspective.
Jokes (like the above) are usually exaggerations of truths, so a man singing a tribute to America where he just sings the country name over and over is simply making fun of American patriotism / narcissism. It rubs Brits the wrong way because we are known for being quite self deprecating. It's generally the reason why Brits on the whole find Americans to be easy targets for jokes. But the comments here just show that Brits are just as easily goaded as Americans. Utterly shaming.
