@jfsa380 It's a day train, so no sleeper is needed. I don't think length of the trip (although it is rather long for a day train) is the only consideration in whether checked baggage service is provided.

The Palmetto has the locomotive, the baggage car, and 5-6 coaches. (Usually 5 but sometimes you see 6.) The first coach is the cafe/business class car and all the rest are regular coaches.
