IN THIS SCENE: "The Tour has always been a story about men, great ones and lesser ones." Erik Zabel discusses the bond shared between he and his teammate Rold Aldag.

ABOUT THE FILM: Le Tour de France, the toughest bicycle race of all celebrated its 100th birthday in 2003. Year after year this spectacular event fascinates millions of people worldwide. But within the beauty of the French coutryside and the tensions of the race, Academy Award Winner Pepe Danquart chose to illustrate the torture and the pain, the fear and the courage of the riders of the Tour.

In the process he captures the thrill of the race, the essence of the stunning landscape, and shines light on the Tour's supporting cast - the masseurs, managers, fans and more. Adding a fine sense of history, Hell on Wheels transcends the sport it celebrates to reveal an astonishing human endeavor.

Featuring the world's best bike racers - Lance Armstrong, Eric Zabel, Jan Ullrich, Tyler Hamilton, Alexandre Vinokurov, Andreas Klöden & more!

  • Bunch of gay riders? What a donut you are. 99.9% of men would cry like a baby if they had to endure 10% of the pain these riders have to endure, and these guys have to endure it for many hours a day, day in day out.

These are the real hard men I can assure you, they are hard in mind as well as body.

  • I thought this video was in English??

  • this was one of the lamest documentaries i have ever seen....so, so bad. interesting from an outside perspective? possibly, but so incredibly boring. i couldnt even finish it, which blows because it was one of the few dvds i bought off amazon. zero motivation to get out and ride, 100% motivation to drink tea and go to sleep

  • There is a transcendence in this video, an uplifting of the human spirit. It displays how we look at our best.

  • Only a few weeks to go!! When cycling gets to this sort of level it ceases to be a mere sport and becomes a form of artistic expression. (oh how much better that would sound in French!!)

  • Just watch the movie, its GREAT!!!!!

  • It's a shame cycling isn't really popular in the U.S. like football, baseball and basket ball.

  • Höllentour...Sensationell...1000mal gesehen...1000malGänsehaut. Ich ziehe meinen Hut vor Pepe und seinem Team.

  • @konarider66

yeah, but its still awesome with his cameo like appearences.

  • @kodakZX1 Yeah it is very sad. I remember travelling to France to see these riders climbing in the alps as a kid and I was so excited and impressed. This was the 80s. It's a bit of a shame to say the least, but this is another reason why they say money is the root of all evil, this kind of thing is driven by money, sponsorship and not pride and kudos, as cheating doesn't help there (although it's still a bloody hard race).
