Caledonian MacBrayne have not been forced to stop their popular vehicle ferries on the popular Gourock-Dunoon route as from 29th June 2011 due to a tendering process that went on for months. Calmac will continue on this route but with 'passenger-only boats. Their competitors , Western Ferries , now have a complete monopoly on vehicle transit. Sad indeed!
