Great video!! I just ordered the same tank and looking forward to getting it. I really like your cork board idea. Would you possibly share your paper work templates with me? I would love a copy for myself to go by.

I am totally new to this hobby and completely in the dark... I already had the sand and the L.R in the tank being that i took it from a friend. I added purified/filtered water from the tap and have Instant ocean salt (10G) for my tank (Biocube 14). I haven't added the salt yet being that i want to make sure where I am at is good.. Is there any advice you can provide or perhaps a website you can guide me to that will give me the complete setup for a tank of this sort.. Thanks, nice tank......

Hey - great tank and super video!! I really appreciate it. I´m just about to go get my own brand new tank (a Red Sea Max 250) later this week, and I´m soo excited. Patience is THE THING when it comes to saltwater, and I´ve got loads of that (thankfully!), so meanwhile I´ll be reading and watching the net for tips and information like yours. Thanks again for a really nice contribution!
Thank you for the advise.
I do not however cycle with fish in the tank. I accept no loss of fish life if I can control it. By the time the CUC is added to the tank the nitrification and dentrification properties are established to the point that NH4, NO3, stay zero.

No you will always hit a bloom. If it's not the silicates then it will be the die off from transporting the live rock. If not that then it will be the adjustment period of having your NH2/3, PO4 ect swing. I say enjoy the bloom, because when it goes away it's super exciting!

@ dgonza11 an alge bloom is inevitable as the sand will have sillacates in it that will cause the alge to consume it in the form of P04, since this will happen it would seem best to leave the lights on to jump start the silicate oxidation process this way 4 weeks or so later when you add life to the tank (CUC) you have less alge bloom to worry about.
