Five years ago in the bedroom of his home in Scotland, Pete Cashmore wrote his first post for Mashable.com. Hoping to get immersed in the social media and technology space, he started writing Mashable to cover web "mash-ups," which were particularly popular at the time. Five years later, the blog grew to be the most popular news site covering the social space with more than 27 million monthly pageviews and a full-time staff of 30 with hundreds more guest writers.

I hope we'll see a less US centered Mashable in the future. Especially since the main man is from Scotland.
