I don't even remember this ad, but it surely was well-produced. As were most of the cigarette commercials. And apparently the implication is that if one smokes Lucky Strike one will "get lucky" with the opposite sex. The way she licked her lips when the announcer said "get lucky" enforces this belief!

  • I remember this....from one of those 'greatest commercial' shows. Any idea what year?

  • Probably 1968 or 1969 at the latest.

  • probably not i definitely see Chris Parnell from SNL in this commercial, and it says 1996 at the beginning so it is way more recent then 1968 unless Parnell has a double. Also the pilot looks like an actor from a bunch of 90's movies I just can't place him.

  • That wasn't Chris Parnell...looked like him though. Also, the "1996" refers to the year of the compilation. Finally, I remember this spot from my childhood...

  • I remember this spot, it's from the 90's... It was aired here in Italy too.

  • This was because American soldiers were given lucky strikes exclusively during the war - a carton a week. By burning the logo, the cigarette butts would be completely blank, so enemy soldiers were not able to tell what legion of soldiers they were trying to track. Also - the original lucky strike soft pack you can buy (only in the USA) hasn't been altered since 1963

  • Yeah, sorry... Lucky strikes were a registered brand even before world war one... Want to hear a REAL lucky strike legend? The reason you smoke the lucky strike logo outside, so it burns off, was so the Germans couldn't track American platoons by picking up cigarette butts and seeing the lucky strike logo

  • Whatever people say lucky-strikes didn't get there name in ww2 because they were made before the war even started!

  • ahaha incredible :)

  • +1 for the facepalm at 0:45
