Broken - Severus and Hermione

Honors: Tied for 4th Place in Jo and Mel's HP Fairytale Contest.
In my own little alternate reality, my story plays out like this: During the Golden Trios seventh year, Hermione finds that she has developed a strange attraction to the Potions Master. Unbeknownst to her, he happens to share her feelings. While Hermione is 18, and a relationship between a student and a teacher is strictly forbidden, the two are eventually drawn together. Unfortunately for them, in a moment of unguarded emotion, the couple is discovered by Harry. His hate for Snape boiling over, he immediately goes to Dumbledore, who confronts Severus about the situation. After leaving the Headmasters office, Severus flies into a rage and threatens Harry, telling him to never interfere in his life again. Hermione is distraught over Harrys betrayal as well as Severus treatment of her friend; she argues with Severus, who tells her that thought they both want it more than anything, they cannot be. Eventually, he realizes that he cannot live without her and they secretely continue the relationship. Selfishly, Hermione tries to convince Severus to quit the life of a double-agent, but he refuses, stating that they would both be killed if they were ever found out. Severus is eventually summoned by Voldemort, and his worst fear is realized: Hermione is being held at the mercy of the Death Eaters. His cover blown, Severus stands to fight for her.and is joined my Harry and the Order. **Harry witnessed Hermiones capture through his link with the Dark Lord.** Both sides duel, but Hermione is tragically struck down by Bellatrix Lestrange. Harry, Dumbledore, and the rest of the wizarding world mourn her tragic loss, while at the same time realizing that Voldemort and his followers are still out there. Severus mourns also..but in the time-honored tradition of Romeo & Juliet, he cannot live without her and takes his own life.

I know, I know....I've given Shakespeare a little tweak here and there, but the most basic point is still the same: Two people from two feuding "families" fall in love.....unable to live without each other, when one perishes, the other swiftly follows. "Romeo & Juliet" is one of my favorite Shakespearean works **Yes, I HAVE read it!**......star-crossed lovers.....so horribly tragic, yet so romantic! Yes this is completely AU.**SPOILER** Severus wanted to die when Lily was killed, so I just transferred that emotion to my story.

This is also my first attempt at using Sony Vegas, so don't be too harsh! :)

Oh.....yeah, as if it needed saying, but I own absolutely nothing!! This was done purely for my own enjoyment....and hopefully that of others!
