@jlspecv how did you culture them did you just put them in the 5 gallon bucket and let it sit for two weeks and how did you collect them?

Very cool. I ordered the octopus BH-2000 and so far i LOVE it..it's just producing a lot of bubbles now but i heard once it breaks in more it should not be as bad.

not a bad start.

Do you add copepod supplement or the like for the mandarin? or does it get enough from the rock? he's beautiful!

In this system, due to it being so small (40 gallon with no sump/fuge) I did. I cultured my own cope/amphipods in just a little 5 gallon bucket and would add to the tank every two weeks or so. I have since upgraded to a 275 gallon system though, and no longer culture my own, as the big system can sustain a good population on its own.

I'm thinking of getting the same skimmer u are using, can you tell me what you like about it/don't like about it? Does it produce skimmate well? beautiful tank!

The Octopus BH-100F is an awesome skimmer, and pulls skim mate very well. About the only negative I could put to it, is that it is a little tricky to get primed on initial start up. Once you get it running, it's fairly easy to re-start again if need be. But the very first one can be tough.
Other than that, it's a great skimmer though. I would never hesitate to recommend one for 55 gallon and smaller tanks.

Awesome tank. You have some really nice pieces in there. I love the torch coral. Heard they were a little hard to keep.

I haven;t had too much trouble with mine. The key is to finding the proper flow/light combination when placing and never exposing them to air.
