  • Oh, I almost forgot to ask. Are those Gothic vestments Father Cooper is wearing?

  • @tradne85

The vestments that priests wear are of historical origin from Jewish priests. The Bible tells us that they were vested in violet and purple; scarlet twice dyed, and fine linen. Gold and precious stones were also used to give the person of the priest that dignity demanded by his exalted office. I don’t know about Gothic.

  • It has occurred to me that the Catholic Church, generally speaking considers Protestant baptisms valid; therefore I suppose Protestants are considered Christians? I invite someone in the know to answer this question. What does the Church teach?

  • @Oblationem Protestant baptisms are recognized. Protestants are Christians.

  • @paraisoat

    Yes, you are correct.

    Thank you.

  • @Oblationem yes it is, there is the roman and the gothic vestments, the roman is the stiff one. The gothic one is was adopted as the "official" chasuble. There are two kinds of these chasubles, the revival and the Traditional one. The revival ones look like the one Fr. Cooper is wearing but they are sold without maniples. The traditional one is exactly what Father is wearing, it has a full design in the back and on the front an incomplete. In my church we use the Roman ones.

  • @Oblationem As long as it is done properly anyone can baptize. I actually baptized my dying brother. I thought it was absured at the time that I should baptize him, but my priest assured me as long as the proper form, matter and substance were used it was valid. Protestants are considered christian and we Catholics refer to them as "seperated bretheren" (except episcopalians, we call heretics.lol)

  • @Oblationem Protestant baptisms valid? That may be the modern Church that okays it, but what happened to the traditional teachings of "There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church"?

  • As far as I know, Protestants are considered Christians, but do not possess the Faith in its fulness. Remember, Protestantism is a heresy and thus by definition denies important truths while embracing falsehoods such as "sola fide" and "sola scriptura." This isn't saying that all Protestants are heretics. I'm just saying that since they do in fact follow heresy, they're missing a lot.

  • @ConfusedKarl

No, he is no actor. We sometimes disagree about this or that, but he is the Real Deal, a real priest of God who enters into the Holy of Hollies to offer up to God a True Sacrifice . If you go to anything other than a Traditional Catholic Mass, perhaps you see nothing but actors?
