  • I ment ofourse that Young has done more than any other Astronaut.. 12 Amerikans has been on the Moon ofcourse.. :) :

  • John W Young is themost expeiensed astronaut. He even puthis foot on the moon! No one in history has done that. Be a president or what ever..He is my hero

    Norway

  • I think that John Young was the best american astronaut.

  • yup spent lots of money to have some guys go wack off in zero gravity.

  • Amen. My generation grew-up with the program. It was the venture that put the first American woman (Dr. Sally Ride) in space and, soon after, the first "African-American" (Guion Bluford) as well. It accomplished so much and made us "proud" again to be Americans. Of course, I'm referring primarily to the 1980's. By the 90's, the next generation found so much of it be "routine".

  • All shuttle missions were made possible by the first flight of STS-1... all the other missions are the Legacy

  • Bob Crippen mentions (in a favorable way) the three things I always thought were bad judgement on NASA's part: solid boosters for manned flight, gliding re-entry, and no prior unmanned testing. Especially tragic, since it was the boosters that destroyed Challenger and the re-entry that destroyed Columbia, killing 14 astronauts in all. I'm glad NASA is abandoning the whole spaceplane idea.
