Theodore, thank you for taking the time to really talk about this issue. I have been very harsh about today's music. From radio, TV (MTV, BET, & VH1), and the Internet is ridiculous and heartbreaking.
There should be a union in the music industry, just like it was a union in the movie industry, to stand up against this epidemic of this critical condition in the music business.

Great video. Thank you! My musician friends and I talk about this all the time and I am happy to see your articulate take on this.

lol i like that reference to disco that it "ruined everything" ... thanks for backing up my hatred for things like auto-tune and lip-syncing... there are still great musicians now its just i'd like to see them top the chart sometime not some 14 year-old Disney-child or hip-hop artist relying on synisizers, voice changers, and auto-tune...well i guess one rant deserves another (btw I have nothing against hip-hop/rap but that genre seems to have it a lot worse)

"Musicians had a greater regard for music." is right on the money. Now they seem to have a greater regard for cash.

My father introduced me to Gentle
Giant when I was a kid which was
an ear opening experience.
Theo, I WANT TO HUG YOU ;-)
Best regards,

for real Theo Knows what he's talking bout when it comes to music and witnessing the industry evolve , like me a REAL LIFE BABY BOOMER " IM the WORLDS RAREST RAP ARTIST ,i write produce and perfrom my own raps , created a art called POSITIVE RAP MUSIC & INVENTED GOSPEL RAP MUSIC BY PENNING AND PERFORMING WWJD WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? (IN 1983) SO adults who speak on music who have been invovled with it & r truly artist like mr mclendon we need 2 uphold thier oppinons.what were u doing in 1983? irap
While I happen to be one of these young adults who likes a lot music from that era, I think it's necessary to point something out. Baby-boomer music is much easier for young people to be exposed to, firstly because there's a lot of baby-boomers (obviously) whose children are growing up hearing the parent's music as well as the newer stuff. A ten year old could potentially love music from the twenties, but they'll probably never hear it unless they search for it.

Naturally. But that is not the point.
The point is: the music of today is sorely lacking. We can go back to the 20's, 30's, etc. if you wish.
Baby-Boomers were also witnesses of the soul and rock & roll boom. This is vital beyond compare.

But what if all those books behind you actually suck? :-)

What books? That's a matte painting; it's a prop. :-)

Another thing, the artist back then had endured more rough times in life, most of the young generation, not all, haven't really gone through enough to be able to express those feelings u refer to!!
