I do not like this arrangement at all. However, Lanza sounds well, simply divine in this. At times he sounds a little "Broadway" but hits the proper formant in his upper register. This arrangement forces the Tenor to take a quicker tempo, and this traditionally is closer to a religioso/lamento.

@Flamethatburns Well said. But maybe "serenade"? As for myself, I had lost and then regained my Faith, and the first Chrstmas after I did regain my Faith my mother bought me this on LP. It has , shall we say, geat power to heal weary or confused souls, and Mario Lanza's version is simply the best

@LanzaLover2 <-- You fail. You show your ignorance slamming one of the greatest genres of music of all time. I like rock and metal but I've never done drugs, smoked a cigarette, or even had a drink of alcohol.

@TheOldSalts In the so called American songs,Lanza did reign supreme.Corelli is one of my favorites as well.Caruso is at the top of the heap, but that does not mean we cannot enjoy other tenors as you do F.C.Del Monaco& Lauri Volpi are among my favorites,However I do enjoy each Tenor over another depending on the role or song or aria they are performing.Perhaps some can say that your FC can never be a Caruso or Del Monaco which is not really important as long as the individual Enjoys

He will never be a Corelli !
My Dad had this same recording on a red 45RPM record. Every so often he would have a few shots of Seven Crown whisky and blast this through the house on our little "stereophonic" record player. I still get goosebumps when I hear it. Thank you for posting it.

Mario has always had his critics....all GREAT singers do. Although he has been gone now for over 40 years here we are STILL talking about him and listening to that glorious voice....Mario always was, still is and always will be......MAGIC!
