I'm a little surprised it didn't tear sooner. How long do people expect a piece of cloth to last? It is 24 yrs old and over the past 2.5 months it has been subjected to 12 storms- some so severe that over 3000 trees have been lost in the City of Vancouver & UBC alone. They deflated it on purpose to avoid further tearing, no one inside was hurt. Winds gusted to 116km/h the following night too.
They should have done the renos after the tear so they would have had the roof for the olympics

special heating system wasn't turned on. and its not just "a bit of cloth", it was manufactured with a 20 year guarantee i believe.
