I don't care what the supreme court has ruled, if one study's the constitution, bill of rights, the articles of confederacy (the first US constitution), works by Thomas Paine (major influence at the time of US founding), Historical events (such as when congress refused to grant George Washington the ability to conscript free people into the military), and the very ideals of American individual freedom its obvious that the founders never stood for a mandatory military service term of the citizens

Put down the hooka all you long haired homos!!!! There is indisputable evidence that an ALL VOLUNTEER force is MUCH more effective than a large number of draftees. Dont worry, there are MANY in the U.S. that take pride in this country and volunteer for duty so that YOU dont have to.

I remember the early '70's.......we had 2 choices coming out of High School........."Nam or College.

Imagine an initiative to raise soldiers salaries to a million $. Sure, it sounds great, but they might as well just draft you, because that money is taken from you, and when it is a million $, you are going to need that money back. And since government programs can't go out of business, that is most likely where you will find yourself. You might be getting a million $ salary, but you didn't really chose to work there. Plus that million isn't going to buy anything when everyone works for the gov.

Yea, there may be higher taxes. But that is more of media stunt than anything else because the actual amount of money required to run government programs are unimaginable. But even in theory, since government gets money by taking it, mostly through inflation and debt, every salary it gives to one person, it takes from somebody else. So the question is: when is the salary too high?--where it literally forces people to have to "volunteer" just as if they were drafted.

to guyjohn59: So explain to me how my money is being drafted? What do you mean...higher taxes?

It's never going to happen because it doesn't need to happen that way. There is all ready a draft. It is the program itself which drafts people's money. So even though participation will be "voluntary", when they are handing out thousand dollar paychecks with your money, then people are going to scrabble to get some of it. The poor will join first, but eventually as everything goes out of business, more people will have to volunteer as well to try to get some of their money back.

first of all even if we did have a draft. WOMEN WOULD NOT BE DRAFTED.

yes...but none of these marches are "Viet-Nam era" size marches
Great video. I'm going to learn more about Mike Gravel. I, for one, would like to stop the senseless killing in Iraq.
Though there is no draft now, how do we know things will stay like that? Consider all the laws that have changed since 2001.

im sending money this this monday. Its just sad that we have a person that is actually a leader and we are going to be forced to vote for the worse of the worst candidates, unless the people do something.
