To believers, Nepal's child goddesses or Kumaris can bestow luck with a glance. But when these children grow up, returning to normal life is virtually impossible.
Girls selected as Kumaris must be aged between two and four and satisfy all the conditions of '32 perfections'. For a few short years, "all Nepalese people worship them" states one woman. But as soon as they experience their first menstruation, they lose their goddess status.

  • im a Nepalese and to be honest dont agree with the custom to have a goddess her self not having the rights to do Wat she wants..

i cant disrespect my own custom but to be honest i think its a bit retarded to have blame USA for the cause of her tittle as the goddess.

and for any haters out there for the blame you are right to blame but shouldn't criticize other countries just because you think other tradition are weird..

half the time USA has more death rate and obese people dead than Nepal.

  • sounds like she is slave to me. cant speak. cant go out. i think this is superstition gone abuse! she is not a living goddess she is a child! a living child.

  • Expecting an adolescent to assume the role of a goddess is a daunting honor that these girls take on gracefully. My Reincarnation is a new documentary with a similar story line to Living Goddess, except the man being documented struggles with the pressure to assume his role as reincarnated Buddhist teacher, instead of going along with it. His story is easier for someone of a different culture to connect with. They're showing select screenings of the film, here is the line-up: bit . ly/vIBPEl

  • we respect our religion

  • This is nothing new, all ancient religons had a human representation of the mother goddess. Her earth representation. But they were rulers of the land. The queen of the people and giver of laws.

  • 240p - We meet again
