— Our old GE washer decided it didn't want to spin anymore. (GE Profile, Model # WNSR3120W0WW) I didn't like the thought of replacing the washing machine or paying big bucks for someone else to fix it for me. First, I unplugged the power cord. I turned off the water supply valves and disconnected the two supply hoses. I had put a towel under them to catch the water that came out. Then I tilted the washer forwards onto the front side so I could get to the panel on the bottom of it. I removed a handful of 1/4 inch screws and removed the pan on the bottom. Then I could see that the belt was badly worn and had fallen off. I bought a new belt from a local appliance parts retailer for about $15.00. List price online was about $13.00, but I didn't want to wait or pay shipping. I wrapped the belt around the smaller pulley on the motor. Then I started the belt on the larger pulley and rotated it until the belt wrapped all of the way around. I replaced the pan on the bottom and tilted it back upright. I reconnected the supply hoses and turned on the water. After I checked for leaks, I Plugged up the power cord. I turned the knob to the spin cycle and verified that it had worked. That was all it took. I hope this helps if anyone ever has a similar problem. Be careful & good luck. Thanks for watching!
This is a new version of one of my old videos except, without the bad music. I am not an appliance expert! I have been told that the front panel of the washer can be removed to do the belt without tipping the machine forwards. I have not confirmed if this is true. This is how I fixed my washer. • it's not clear whether you mean it didn't agitate either? just spin or both?

  • @thecrystalkid It only didn't spin. It agitated still.

  • Why didn't you just remove the front panel? keep it upright

  • @TheTangent72 I have heard many times that that is the right way to do this, but I wasn't able to get it off. I tried a few times after the video was uploaded & couldn't do it. This is why I usually stick with auto repair & not appliances.

  • Where is the sound?

  • @SteadiStick When I made the video, my kids were being noisy. I had originally replaced the audio with music. I didn't own the copyright to the music, so YT didn't like it. I re-uploaded it with no audio.

  • Thank you for this video, it was exactly what I was looking for. My belt was worn, but also the small pulley area that the belt goes around was broke. Can you tell me what the small pulley is and if their is a part for this? I assume this is the motor pulley, but I dont need the whole moter, just the peice that attaches to it. The V part that the belt goes into.

  • @roadragecustoms

It seems you like to tinker at your washing machine.

Why you don't take up the belt slack?

I guess your next belt change will be soon.

  • was there a buzzing noise when you had the top on for it to run? if not do you know what would make a buzzing noise when its running with no spin or agitation

  • I have the same washing machine with the same problem. I couldn't get the front off either but I could the bottom just as you did. I was really hoping to see the belt off when I took the bottom off. But no it's still there. There is a wiring schematic inside the top part of the washer. Tomorrow I will go over that and see if I can find why the motor doesn't work. If not I will buy a new one.

We have a friend that does a lot of washing for her work. She says just buy the cheapest. That's best.

  • @roadragecustoms i have that same problem now, did you go 2 a sears 2 get the belt?

  • Sweet..hope this is our issue.

  • Thank you nice video.

  • genius! in a throw away world where people think its acceptable to replace something rather than try to fix it, its good to see there are true soldiers who are prepared to actually investigate and diagnose instead of just wasting shit and making some pikey scrappo a few quid. my hat goes off to you sir....
