Higgins Flea Market vendors are breathing a little sigh of relief because an alleged robber was finally caught holding the bag, literally. According to a source, a vendor noticed the door up on S&P Signs and saw a man on a bike with a bag. When she approached, he stated that he and his mom were hungry and he wanted to take a few things. She called 911 under the guise of telling the dispatcher about a so-called TV she had for sale, since the man was listening. The dispatcher finally caught on they were being robbed and sent deputies, who arrested the man, who was in his 20s, wearing a mask, and in his bag were some video games and movies. He didnt pick up a loaf of bread that was available, however. Ralph is still upset over the last theft and stated hed just would like a minute with the gentleman.

Saturday was the first annual Annie Cox Scholarship Car Show, to raise money to help a teacher to go to college. Plenty of sharp cars and tricked out lawnmowers were available for an automobile lover to feast their eyes on.

There were dogs with paws who liked the cars pretty good too.

Good food, good fun, beautiful cars, all for a good cause.

Nancy, Mrs. Annies daughter was also there as was her niece, who spoke on behalf of the family [she speaks]

The maroon and gold game was also Saturday night, with a lot of food and fun. The 2009-2010 CCHS teams were introduced. The boys team was viewing the game from the stage. Heres a little action from the Lionettes playing the alumni.

Then around 3 a.m. Monday, there was a report of a vehicle that had hit a tree on Center Hill Road, near the intersection of Highway 146/Short Mountain Road. A passerby had spotted the accident and had called it in.

It appeared that the earlier model four-wheel drive pickup truck, driven by Michael Clay Johnson, 35, left the roadway in a sharp curve, went through a wooden fence, and continued on into a nearby ravine, crashing into a tree and other debris.

It appeared there were no skid marks.

Cannon County EMS, Cannon County Sheriffs Department and Cannon County Rescue Squad worked the accident scene. East Side Fire Department was contacted to set up a landing zone in the field across the road so that Lifeflight would be able to land close.

Patient was transported by Cannon County EMS to the nearby drive, then hand-carried via stretcher to the waiting air ambulance.

The patient was transported to Vanderbilt where he later died.
