In 2005, $7.9 million was stolen from the American taxpayers and given out to Latino-only charter schools in the form of U.S. Department of Education grants. The following is a list of a few of those schools:

-La Academia Semillas del Pueblo (Los Angeles)

-Atzlan Academy (Tucson, AZ)

-Mexicayotl Academy (Nogales, AZ)

-The Dolores Huerta Prepatory High School (Pueblo, CO)

-Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School (St. Paul, MN)

thank you for bringing a humanity to immigrants. US society forgets to look at the human spirit. Unfortuantely we also forget what makes us human. It is nor our racenor our gender, since they are both socially constructed, it is our life experiences that shape who we are. Your project goes far in showcasing the life threatening risks that immigrants take in order to enter this country and take on a dirty, dangerous, often back breaking job, that guarantees a low wage.

Our government could achieve border security and end illegal immigration tomorrow, by simply mandating employer verification and enacting a guest worker program.

Aside from the stereotypical view about The Minutemen the fact is that they are correct about our need to secure America's need to secure our borders. Where the Minutemen are wrong is in their identification of illegal immigrants as the source of the problem.

The Minutemen neglect that fact that illegals are only filling the need for cheap labor, legal or otherwise that corporate America has has created.

The illegal immigration issue has been brewing since the passage of the Immigration Amnesty of 1986 when our Federal Government failed to punish employers who hire illegal immigrants.
