It's not just the nurses who do that. I don't know if you're a PA or an MD but I hope you don't generalize all nurses. I've met good and crappy nurses and doctors. I think all members of the the health care field have made those types of mistakes. It's not really the profession but the type of person they are. I have witnessed how some patients almost met their end because the healthcare provider was too stubborn to even consider the nurse's warnings or suggestions.

disagree completely - yes nurses play a critical role but I can't tell you how many times a nurse has deserted a patient to go on break, demanded raises when everyone else was getting laid off, hid behind their union, or in general acted more like a facotry worker then someone caring for their patients. Also, why is it that many nurses make more then NP and PA's - it is not because they are more valuable but that they have a more effect union

undepaid? they make more then I do in the local system, and approach the pay of new IM doc's 100k per year for a 9-5 weekday job is OVER PAID

Nurses are underpaid, underappreciated, and often portrayed negatively by the media when in fact, nursing is the backbone of the healthcare system.
