HOW MUCH? A FLIPPING REACTOR IN SOME LIBERAL GOVT LONG TERM DEVELPOMENT STRATEGY OF THE FUTURE! THOSE 1950'S AND 60'S GOVTS WERE LIBERAL, THESE ARE RIGHT WING THUGS! This video was meant as an extrapolation of the appeal for the possibly investing Ombudsman to "find". The actual appeal was substantially based upon the "hiding" of a large bowl of Coal Seam Gas deposit under Tamoor near Picton by a section of the locals in a "get rich" scheme. My Appeal was denied, but a recent Mid February 2011 episode of our ABC Four Corners Progamme (Australian Current Affairs TV) reported "locals" in this area now protesting vehemently against these coal seam deposits! No, they were not, it seems, "officially disclosed" by AGL, that ABC progamme reported that "someone" had reported the "gas bowl" to Authorities! Myself? Who knows? Full speed ahead, damn the torpedos, they have/had more in their kit bags I believe wholeheartedly! PLEASE NOTE: That Ombudsman of this period came from THIS area and was, I believe, part of that section of locals "hiding" this "gas bowl", THE "OTHER" LOCALS seem to have found this and reacted! PLEASE NOTE MY "LOCAL QUACKERY AND CONNECTED COPS, don't tell me I am hated and feared there by "everyone"! OK, "Sorry, I give you a chance to save your lake to say sorry xx."...A downsized Shoalhaven Dam is now built, although this has been the result of a huge and organised lobby against the larger one originally planned and not myself! A water filtration plant built adjacent Capt Cook's landing spot in Botany Bay is also built. Full of wilderness and beauty the NSW South Coast will never recovered this Heritage Status! Warragamba Dam could be "Topped Up" I believe from a DOWNHILL FLOW FROM THE THIRLMERE LAKES, EVEN FROM THEIR OUTLETS OUTSIDE THE NATIONAL PARK! There is somethin more I believe, A REACTOR! The Local whisper of a GAS BOWL under The Thirlmere Lakes driving the Underground Fresh Bores to keep the Lakes Continually Full! WILDERNESS CRIME OF OUR NEW CENTURY, drain the gas (disclosed "sneakily as the Camden Field-the smaller end), degrade the Lake Park, flood The Shoalhaven, close Warragamba and build Housing on those post-flooded areas...BUILD A REACTOR AT OBERON AND A BOOSTER STATION AT THE OAKS!...LOOK AT THE INFRASTRUCTURE (ROADS) GOING IN! THE MAIN ROAD VIA PICTON IS HORRIBLE! THE 1ST ROAD SHOWN TO THE OAKS LEADS NO-WHERE! VIEW THE DIFFERENCE! The Oaks Airport is built on an old Volcano-Mud Flat now, later a "Heat Pad"?...NOTE: Yes, there is a typo in the 1st QUESTION PAGE AND PROBABLY OTHERS! Dear verticlesmurf...1') Warragamba is ALREADY DAMAGED and I suggest has a limited value in the end. After all this rain and time since the drought ended it still only gets filled to 60%. That was announced ONCE 18 months ago on TV, now they are quiet! THIS ISN'T A TRAVELOGUE, THEY TALK ABOUT FLOODING "THE SHOALHAVEN" to create a large area/shallow dam on the driest and one of the hottest countries on earth! STUPID!

Why is Warragamba 'already damaged'? I know that no modern structure will last long (I recently watched a doco that outlined how castles built 400 years ago are in better condition than modern buildings put up 20 years ago.)

But, check out a book called 'Thank God there were no greenies' by Red Morgan. He worked on the Dam. It's good for a long while yet.

Also, after a drought the ground is like a sponge, and it will suck up alot of rain before any water gets to the reservoir.

I'm not certain verticlesmurf, it was on the News as last drought broke. After report nothing said but Dam Levels reported, never over 60%! Apparently, they are working; recent News report! I'm uncertain about cause, Australia's very severe droughts meant all dams are or have been near empty. Perhaps causes foundations to dry, shift>>internal cracks! The difference? Dam is quite big = more weight of water!

YOU MISS THE POINT verticlsmurf. Australia is HOT! HIGH EVAPORATION RATES! Australian Dams are usually shallow, wide and expansive. They repeatedly bring up flooding The Shoalhaven. It will be  VERY OPEN, EXPANSIVE AND SHALLOW DAM! Australia is the driest continent on earth. We need desalination plants for sea water! We need to look at other options such as feeds into a large existing dams such as Warragamba of fresh ground water via natural outlets such a Thirlmere Lakes.

Do you believe everything you read in the news?

IMO, that whole thing about flooding the Shoalhaven was probably when the NSW Govt wanted to raise the Tallowa Dam wall.

The foundations of Warragamba Dam can't dry out unless the dam is empty.

In the last 20 years, the wall of the dam has been raised, reinforced, and the spillway was put in.

I don't think we'll see Warragamba spill again, the population in the Sydney basin is taking water faster than the dam can fill up.

I was talking about driving through a beautiful place, but you've made it about water! Fair enough, here's my opinion.

The site for Warragamba Dam was chosen because it was deep and narrow, so the water board wasn't dumb. Raising the height of Tallowa Dam was ruled out. I don't agree with sucking out groundwater. Google 'sinkholes'.

I hate desal, pumping too much salt back into a local sea shore area, it'll scar.

IMO the only options are consumption control, recycling, or population control.

I clicked on this expecting to see the beauty of the Shoalhaven. All I have seen is pictures of roads, and comments saying Warragamba will fail. Hey if it does, you'll be safe, Warragamba is way North of you guys right?
