The reason why Federer is god of tennis is because Safin is the creator.

@ForeverMan91 what you said. This game was a wonderful game. Roger and Marat were young. They held the game highest in the best state. I love this game. Even if Roger loses. However, Roger's achievement cannot be compared with Marat. you are always noisy.

i think from Aus tralian open 2004 to US open 2009... federer deserved to loose only 4 grand slam matches... french open 2004 kuerton, french open 2008 to nadal, french open 2007 nadal, Aus open 2008- djokovic (due to mono).. During this period of 24 slams federer should have had 20 slams instead he ended up with "ONLY" 14 slams the other 2 slams were of course Wimbledon 2003 and Aus 2010

I have so much respect and admiration for federers' game, but Marat Safin will always be my favourite tennis player,he is the reason I play tennis.

@MaratSafinVideos maybe sampras' s&v isn't as sharp as its used to in 2000. Precision is important in his strategy. But when he loses, he always lost to passing shots and can't change his game. He is same like nadal, both one dimensional with a strongest weapon. Federer isn't the best of any thing, but is jack of all trades. Not sure if safin would have won a prime sampras, but i recalled more players are blocking his serve which had not changed much.

@89Pleasek Don't patronize me. From what you've said, your tennis knowledge is very limited and your reliance on stats is strong. If you think Federer was playing at his best at the AO10, you obviously didn't see him during his prime. A couple of very good matches doesn't equate to a whole tournament.
How can you compare Agassi to Federer? Sometimes you just cannot compare. Agassi never lost his ability or confidence in his strokes. What let him down was his chronic back problem.

I maintain what I said about Federer. The difference between now and then is that the Swiss could produce the goods on a consistant basis, now he plays something around 2-3 great tournaments (agree with you that it's still not prime Federer) in a span of a year.
Look at Agassi, he played great as a teenager, in his mid 20's in his late 20's and even in his 30's. What's his prime then? I'd like to remind you that he won 5 out of his 8 Slams after 1999.

Let's stick with Sampras still playing great (but I wouldn't say it's FAR from his best) in 2000 and Safin's win over him was legitimate, especially after he beat him just a month prior in Toronto. I mean nobody would argue that Federer at the 2009 US Open was at his best but he was (and still is) a great player.
safin beat sampras, and federer for win his 2 only grand slam, he beat legend.
