I love Google Earth to spy (after the fact) on these drillers! Our water director, Julie Hunt, responded on April 25 2011.... "The water line I believe you are mentioning below on Green Oaks just south of SH303 is for temporary transmission of raw water from the Lake to the Quicksilver drill site. These small above ground lines are temporary and are conveying water only from the Lake to the drill site. A required air gap (physical disconnection) between this pipe and Quicksilver's on-site water storage tank at the drill site prevents any backflow in this pipeline." Wow Julie I feel so much better now (note sarcasm...so where are the meters!!!!! I did an open records request for the water bill...can't wait to see that!

  • Over a three month period they used one and a half million barrels of raw lake water (times 42 gl per barrel) which is 63 million gallons.

At $4.75 per 1,000 gallons, they paid $300,000 and only utilized 3 of their 12 meters.

That is .005 cents per gallon. ....of single use water.

  • Look at all that frack sand and ??? whatever else the Texas wind carries off of this site to the neighbors and into our lake...our drinking source. Last night Arlington City Council approved six more wells in this area...we are in a drought and single use water needs to be sold at a premium!!!

  • This is happening because America is being run by the oil and gas industry. For this to be allowed to continue, there is a major problem....DEMOCRACY IS CLOSED IN AMERICA.

  • Lake Arlington is fracked and we are f _cked. Can anyone even comprehend why this sort of heavy industrial activity is being allowed in such close proximity to a major drinking water source for a half million people?
