Hendrix' performance of "Are You Experienced" live at the Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix on September 4th, 1968. One of my favorite versions of the song.

@chunksteak yeah spot on mate...i though machine gun wa sthe bollox(solo) until i heard that are solo were talkin about..its the melodic feedback that gets me in it....thank fuck they recorded that version properly..actually cant find it on here now thinkin about it \! peace

@tokaicarl yeah man especially when he kicks in with teh wah pedal and wammy bar dives and gets that cool feedback and somehow incorporates it in the melody... only Jimi!

man the version off "Jimi Hendrix Concerts" is out of this world or not from this world i should say! Jimi draw from the astral and presented it to the earthly so we may remember where we really come from.. he was/is a messenger send from beyond... i wonder where he is now!!! Play on Jimi...

@KAMON1973 Thanks for responding. Since I wrote that last comment, I went and got the Winterland box set too - they have the version we're talking about, and also another one that I came to love very much as well. And the sound is really good (thanks Eddie Kramer), so they didn't screw anything up like I was worried about. Have a great day bro - it's good to know there's people out there who have the same ecstatic reaction to I have to these things...

Your right!! I have that Cocert cd. I have just brought the winterland box set. The feedback at the start of Are you experienced is HUGE!!! and when he starts the chug chug of the first bar is monumental!!!!! Its one of the most powefull moments on mussic I have ever heard. AWESOME!!!!!!111

Jimi's set-up was basically two stacks of Marshalls (cranked all the way up) with a Strat that had single coil pick-ups. It's amazing that he could actually control his guitar! With that much volume through single coil PU's, the hiss and feedback is like trying to control a raging beast !!!!
