Enjoy this short introduction of Black Sand Equity Management Ltd (BSEM) who operate a Low Impact Magnetite Open Pit Mine. Primary recovery is Magnetite with Gold and Platinum as secondary metals. The Black Sand project is one of the first alluvial mining operations in Canada to use an Ultrasep or Clarifier which will allow BSEM to reduce water demand and prevent the need for costly, environmentally sensitive tailings ponds. This process recycles over 90% of the water and uses no chemicals, blasting or drilling. In fact BSEM is focused on reducing water demand along with diesel powered equipment to better manage noise levels, emissions, and costs.

Magnetite; a heavy black iron oxide is an important industrial mineral used in the making of cement, the amalgamation of steel, the washing of coal for export, the purification of water, as a natural black pigment used in colored concrete and landscaping bricks. Magnetite is also used as a natural coloring in the Cosmetics Industry.
