Post WW2, few songwriters have influenced popular music as much as Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.
Using a song they produced for Sammy Turner, I've made a small tribute to these two songwriter/producers that can be summed up in a comment Elvis once made about one of their songs, "You mean two white guys wrote this?" Among their hit compositions: "Hound Dog", "Stand By Me", "There Goes My Baby", "Kansas City", "Jailhouse Rock", "Spanish Harlem", "Smokey Joe's Cafe" and just about every hit The Coasters ever had including "Searchin" "Young Blood", and "Yakety Yak". They also wrote "Is That All There Is" which became a huge hit for Peggy Lee in 1969.
Jerry Leiber passed away today. RIP and thanks for helping make Sammy one of the great artists.
