  • I don't believe there will be any good parts left when I go if I die of natural causes. If I die a premature death and there's still something good in me, why not let someone have it? It won't do me any good where I'm going...

  • I know what you're saying, Andy. I think if anyone woke up with any of my spare parts, they'd suddenly get a strange craving for whisky and nicotine! ;-)

  • I have a little dot on my driver's license that says I'm a donor. But at 65 and with a slightly defective heart and liver, I don't know which organs may be any good for transplant. I've made it known to my siblings that I want to go to medical school when I die. That is, be a cadaver for dissection, so young doctors can learn how to save others. There are other ways to be useful after you die.

  • It's great that you have given the idea some thought Larry. Most people bury their heads in the sand when it comes to thinking about death, especially their own! :-) - Rob

  • I'll look into it , although they best stay away from my liver , too much beer has passed through that organ . JV

  • LOL...I know what you mean JV, but in my case any recipient of my liver may suddenly get a taste for whisky! :-) Rob

  • Exactly! Don't forget spicy and rich fattening food...

  • A fine gentleman went to my school, and gave a speech about donating life. It was a great experience, and it has definatley influenced me.

  • This kind of thinking is common and not new. TYhe same kind of people once fought against vaccination because they thought that if God had ordained that someone should die of smallpox it was a sin to try to thwart God's will. Those same individuals swore that God was love itself.

  • Thanks for sharing that with us Jacquie, and making it all the more real. I'm sorry to hear the sad news about your nephew, but through the sadness at least your family can gain some small comfort that 5 people have been given a new lease of life through the tragedy. Thanks again, - Rob xx
