    lol

  • And no artiest in they're right mind would care, since it's flattering, and both shows, and increases the popularity of your song.

Only the suits give a crap. Who knows why, it probably doesn't even effect their business. Not negatively anyway.

  • They pick you out because you are a threat! Your just to Damn Good!

  • I'd agree in the small groups and indie performances. I wouldn't care if someone performed my stuff. It would be complimentary. Its when covers are performed and the band/individual is making a good living at it, that I'd expect them to pay licensing fees. But here -- in youtube ? Probably not. Sadly, it's adminstratively expensive to make a decision whether each video has any profitablity. If its demeening, sure remove it. A parody, nope, leave it. A cover? eh... who should care.

  • By their mere creation, ANY song is copyrighted and therefore ANY cover would be an infringement. You need to disclaim and accept liability (to pay fees, royalties, damages) that you are NOT infringing on the copyright and give reason as to why not. YT could not possibly create a "list". They are simply banning those that are brought to their attention by the owners of the cpyrt or license and being proactive to block/warn those they already know are a blantant cpyrt infringement.

  • You're welcome Reina, and I really hope you can manage to get one of the strikes removed.

@Elviejoinez. I really don't think so, because all of your covers of copyrighted music are in violation, so your only real recourse would be to cover really old music.

The real problem is most likely that big company's that own rights to the music, and various trademarks, put pressure on youtube to remove song covers. Youtube doesn't care, since song covers are some of the more popular videos-

  • Is it possible to give YT a list of your covers and let them inform you which ones pose a copyright violation? If you can get them to do this then you would not have to delete any of your covers which are not a copyright issue. Hence you would not needlessly lose any views on covers that are deemed "safe" by YT. Also, if there is a future copyright issue with any of these "safe" covers you would have justification to remove any YT violations on covers YT previously advised you were safe.

  • Bad news bears.

Yeah, I'm seriously entertaining the notion of setting up a separate account for just covers and "cleansing" my current channel of all potentially-copyright-infringing material. Urgh, what a pain though. I'll be starting from scratch with views in that case.

Before I do anything drastic, I'm just going to see if I can remove at least one of the strikes off my account. Not holding my breath.

    Thanks for this video!

    Reina
