from Burger Center in Austin, Nov 1989. I always wished I could have heard this show in the Finals at UT - Memorial Stadium, but the finals were cancelled that year because of weather delays earlier in the day. This is one of the earliest examples of a themed show by G-P - "A Tchaikovsky Showcase." A little known percussion fact is that Lalo Davila taught percussion at this high school in the early 80's. His successor (Dale Pless)picked up where he left off, and for many years into the 90's, G-P's percussion section was known as one of the best in the state. I love this show, and for all who can understand.... "dah dah DAH!"

Yup! I was merely adequate compared to some, but I had a good time. I really enjoyed the subsequent 4 years in Longhorn band too.

Hey Bmartin, the lone senior trumpet player that year. Sure had some good times back then.

Wow, I went to T-M ('93) and have this on a vid from KIII when they aired excerpts from the entire contest on TV. They always had strong marching bands. Time definitely flies!
