  • there is no 45 degree step you hint towards home in any way you cant throw to first period. liberal umps allow this calling it a good move because they blew the look. which they will never will admit

  • The 45 degree angle thing isn't a rule.

    Any attempt to deceive the runner and any motion towards home is a balk.

  • @rubymaxgp The NCAA's version of the rulebook does have "'Directly' is interpreted to mean within a 45-degree angle [...] toward the base the pitcher is throwing to" - so the argument at college level is correct (as bad as it sounds!).

    My every instinct says that's a balk though, 45 degree allowance or not...
